1. Future of e-commerce market in Poland
The perspective for the development of e-commerce in Poland until 2027 will be definitely upward, the PWC report says. We can expect double-digit increases in online sales by 2026. Overall, the market is expected to grow by more than 94 billion PLN between 2021 and 2027. During this time, the share of marketplaces will increase from 45% to 55% - 60%.
This is the best time to start sell online. It is worth noting that e-commerce development relies on new technologies and agility in customer service and logistics. This is all driven by consumer habits and generational change. To learn more about how to increase your sales, or start an e-commerce business, write to us. 2. Ecommerce in Italy Was Worth 76 Billion Euros in 2022
As everywhere in Europe and the world, e-commerce is also growing in Italy. Italy's online shopping market is estimated to be worth 76 billion euros in 2022. That's an increase of more than 18% year-on-year after a significant 33% growth during the pandemic (2020 - 2021). The trend of frenzied pandemic growth has also slowed in Italy, as you can see. HoweIt continues to grow, and so do the predictions for the next few years. However, looking at the share of individual online channels, own e-commerce sites are in first place with a share of 40%, followed by marketplaces with 28%. Mobile apps had a share of 8% in online sales. For our domestic companies planning to go out with their offerings in Italy, this confirms that the market there is strong and will be so in the coming years.
3. Changes Affecting E-commerce. Starting May 1, Another Obligation And New Tax.
The EU and the DAC7 directive being implemented by Poland imposes new obligations on sales platforms. As of May 1, platforms that allow non-business people to sell online are required to keep records of such sales in order to later raport taxes in January 2024 details of transactions. Those who have sold products for less than €2,000 or their total number of transactions in a year is no more than 30 will not have to answer and pay additional taxes. Those who sold used products more expensively than they purchased them within 6 months of purchase are not excluded from this. Will this affect the cost of doing business on sites such as Allegro or OLX in Europe? We will see very soon.
